What is 4-H Camp?
4-H Junior camp provides youth countless opportunities to learn more about themselves, their peers, and the natural world around them. Days are filled with camp classes (archery, kayaking, athletic sports, marine science, challenge course, photography, arts and crafts, and much more!), unstructured recreation and swim time, flag ceremonies, evening programs, and campfires. Our main focus during camp is to help youth develop independence, self-esteem, confidence, interpersonal skills, and other life skills.
Registration Infromation
- Registration opens March 18
- Early bird registration is $420 through April 22.
- The cost will increase to $450 on April 23
- Final registration closes July 10. Cost Includes lodging, food, camp t-shirt and activity and class supplies. Refunds will be given through June 30.
- Online payments will be accepted
- Checks will be sent to the Henrico Extension Office
- Youth must turn 9 by 9/30/2026 and cannot have reached their 14th birthday by 1/1/2026.
Age Requirements:
- Campers -A camper is any youth that is 9-13 years old. To qualify, the youth must turn at least age 9 and may not be older than age 13 as of Sept. 30, 2026.
- Counselors-in-Training- Counselor-in-Training (CIT) age is 13 (specifically, must turn 13 on or before Jan. 1, 2026) and only for youth interested in applying for future teen counselor positions. Youth of CIT age who register for camp will automatically be enrolled in the CIT program and will receive leadership training while at 4-H camp.
- Teen Camp Counselors- Teen Camp Counselor age is 14-18 (specifically, age 14 on or before Jan. 1, 2024, and no older than age 18 prior to Sept. 30, 2026). For the 2026 camp, if a teen turned age 14 on or before Jan. 1, 2026, they are not eligible for enrollment, neither as a camper or CIT. These teens must apply in advance for a teen camp counselor position. Applications are available each fall around the start of the school year. These positions follow a competitive, selective process. The teen application process is currently closed for 2026.
Out of Unit Registration Date
Registration for youth who live outside of Henrico County or Richmond City will open April 8, 2026.
Payment Options
Pay Online
Families may submit camp payment and complete registration online using a credit or debit card through our secure registration system. This option allows families to easily complete both payment and camper registration in one step.

Pay by Check
Check or Money Order payments along with the paper registration form can be sent via mail to VCE- Henrico, P.O. Box 9075, Henrico, VA 23273 or dropped off at the Henrico Extension Office (6800 Staples Mill Rd, Henrico, VA 23228) during our business hours of Monday-Friday, 8 AM-4:30 PM. Please make checks payable to "Treasurer of Virginia Tech". These payments will be accepted through May 15.
Once payment is received, you’ll receive an email with directions for how to register in 4-H Online 2.0 if your camper is not already a member. Do not attempt to register without following directions. Payment plans are not available this year.
Parent Volunteer
If you are a parent/guardian of a 4-H Camper and are interested in volunteering to be an Adult Volunteer for the full week of 4-H Camp, a discount of $100 would be refunded to you at the conclusion of camp. There is no cost for adults to attend 4-H Camp. All lodging and meals are provided. Training & Background Check is required. If you are interested please email Carter Humpries at cc296@vt.edu. We are specifically in need of male volunteers.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Families are responsible for transporting their youth to and from the Jamestown 4-H Education Center. Specific times will be sent after registration closes to ensure a smooth check-in process. Drop off is on Monday, July 27th and pick-up is on Friday, July 31st. Medication and camp store money is collected at drop-off.
Code of Conduct
We will make every effort to provide positive, realistic expectations for your child. Youth and parents will sign-off in 4-H Online 2.0 acknowledging that they have read and understand the Code of Conduct. All members of the 4-H community, including staff and campers, are expected to behave responsibly and appropriately at camp. After reasonable efforts to modify behavior, campers that cannot follow the rules of camp, or those that are adversely affecting the experience of others will be dismissed. In this case, it is the parent’s responsibility to come to camp to pick up their camper.
Zero Tolerance Policy
For the safety of your child and everyone at camp, Jamestown 4-H Educational Center will not tolerate any of the following:
- Offensive or threatening language
- Bullying (physical or emotional)
- Physical violence/abuse
